Let’s Trade!
There are many types of currency in this world -- in fact, Gregory Landua and Ethan Roland identify (at least) eight in their book, Eight Forms of Capital: social, material, living, intellectual, experiential, spiritual, cultural, and financial.
In that spirit, here is a current list of things I’d be interested in trading for OR you can message me with your most unhinged offer... because who knows, I might be down 👀 (this list updates every few months)
- books! (especially by Blk authors)
-
large artwork for my apartment
-
hair services: cornrows with extensions, box braids with extensions
-
bodywork: physio, chiro, massage therapy, reiki
-
meals (vegetarian) or a bundle of fresh locally grown produce
-
handmade non-toxic candles
-
things I would love to learn: foraging, German language, gardening (bonus points if you can help me set up my garden beds!)
- archival support! remember the whole “family historian” thing? my cousin left a lot of family documents and photos for me to organize...
And in exchange, outside of my writing and producing work, here are some additional offerings from me:
- creative consultation on your script draft (play or screenplay), editorial cut, next steps on your career ideas and the like
- feature/series development (short term or long term)
- teach-ins/skill-shares about: devised theater-making, self-generating work as an emerging multi-hyphenate filmmaker, developing community-engaged artistic practices and experiences, marronage, and the “art of neighboring”
